(DIAMOND BAR, CALIF.) – The Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA/SC) today announced the hiring of Andrew R. Henderson to serve as its new Vice President and General Counsel. Henderson joins the association from the corporate law department of KB Home.

At BIA/SC, he will serve as general counsel for both the association and the Building Industry Legal Defense Foundation (BILD).

Richard J. Lambros, Chief Executive Officer for BIA/SC, said Henderson’s extensive and varied background in environmental issues will complement the association’s advocacy efforts.

“Andy will be a fantastic addition to our staff, and we are lucky to have such a talented and respected attorney join our team,” he said.

Henderson holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Santa Clara and a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He earned his law degree with honors from the University of North Carolina, where he also was a member of the North Carolina Law Review.

At KB Home’s Los Angeles corporate office, Henderson served as Director of Government and Public Affairs and Corporate Counsel.

Prior to joining KB Home, Henderson was a partner in public interest litigation and client counseling at Hall & Henderson LLP in Los Angeles. He argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2001 and has served as counsel in many significant cases involving CEQA compliance, development and environmental issues.

Henderson also has maintained active involvement in the community. He served as an appointed commissioner on the City of Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission and was a founding director and chairman of Break the Cycle, a Los Angeles-based charity aimed at domestic violence prevention, education, legal services and legislative advocacy.
